On 28 March 1979 Three Mile Island Unit 2 in the Susquehanna near Harrisburg took a partial core melt. A cooling tower that still stands became the picture. People left and came back. The official file is an accident, a Kemeny inquiry, and a plant that did not become a second Windscale in public memory only because the weather and the containment went the other way. Finding
Three Mile Island Unit 2 took a partial core melt on 28 March 1979, and a cooling tower still stands in the Harrisburg picture. Believe the inquiry. A river plant does not invent a ruined unit for a later pamphlet.
What still will not resolve: annexes still argued, or a page that makes the melt smaller than Kemeny wrote. Either one would finish a fight. The proving object is still those pages, held as the night, not as a saucer hung on a tower.
