Opening
On the night of 29 November 1989 two gendarmes on the road near Eupen, in the east of Belgium, reported a silent dark triangle with lights that they followed at low height. That night is the opening of the Belgian wave. SOBEPS compiled. The Belgian Air Force later sat with F-16 radar weather on other nights of the same season. No wreck sat in a Walloon field. Eupen is the first named patrol. Keep later wave ivy on the shelf as later life that still points at two men in a car.

On the paper, 29 November 1989 gives you four hard objects and no wreck.

There is no wreck. There is no photograph from that first car a lab will sign. There is no official close those two men would sign as a known aircraft.
A dated patrol and a silent triangle are the stay-behinds. A frame from the car would finish the shape. A known-type close those two would sign would finish the other door.
It was silent and it was a triangle and we followed.
Competing explanations
An unknown triangle that opened a wave. This is the patrol. It has two badges. It has no wreck.
A known aircraft, a blimp, a mis-seen airliner. The mundane door. Has to carry silence and a follow at low height.
A later myth hung on Belgium. Weak against a dated patrol.

Finding
Two gendarmes near Eupen followed a silent triangle on 29 November 1989, and Belgium used that night as the door to a wave. Believe the patrol. A gendarmerie car does not invent a follow for a later list.
What still will not resolve: a frame from that car, or a close those two would sign as a known type. Either one would pin the triangle. The proving object is still that shape over the Eupen road, held as aircraft or as other by more than a compiled wave.
