Opening

On 29 August 1967 Francois and Anne-Marie Deplechin, thirteen and nine, were minding cows near Cussac in the Cantal when they saw four small black figures at a mill wall and a sphere that rose with a whistle. The children ran. Gendarmes took a statement the same day. Soil at the place was later called dry in a damp field in some tellings. GEIPAN keeps Cussac as a case with a child pair and an unknown vehicle. No object was recovered.

Finding

Two children at Cussac told gendarmes on 29 August 1967 that four small figures and a sphere had been at the mill wall. Believe the same-day paper. A gendarmerie does not invent a mill for a later catalogue.

What still will not resolve: a photograph from that afternoon, or an object from the grass. Either one would pin the sphere. The proving object is still that vehicle, held as play or as craft by more than two children running.
