Opening
PBFORTUNE was a 1952 CIA project against Jacobo Arbenz's Guatemala that got as far as lists and a cut-out plan and was then cancelled as too loud before PBSUCCESS took the later year. Elimination language sat on paper. The cut is why Fortune is a file and not only a preface to 1954. United Fruit weather sat in the room. This card is the written list and the stop. It is not a manual and it is not 1954.
Fortune is the shop that was told to sit down. Success is the shop that stood up two years later. Keep the captions separate.
The spine of the file is a 1952 list that did not become the 1952 job. PBFORTUNE is cancelled paper. It is not a claim no later project ran.

PBFortune is early CIA paper on a named job, not a later forum caption. Dates and desks on that paper are why the file exists. Later wonder hang-ons have to beat the page as written.
A proposal or an ops slip is a bureaucratic object. A recovered craft is a warehouse object. This card keeps the first unless a tray opens the second.

Physical and documentary trail
On the paper, 1952 gives you four hard objects and no completed 1952 coup.
One: PBFORTUNE as a named project.
Two: lists and elimination language as later declassified.
Three: the cancellation.
Four: PBSUCCESS as the later caption. CIA PBFORTUNE paper as later declassified, is the originating tray.
There is no page that makes Fortune a journalist's nickname only. There is no 1952 fall of Arbenz. There is no claim Success was the first word.
Named early paper and a dated job are the stay-behinds. A complete binder would finish the desk. A recovery tray under that caption would have to beat the page.
There is no public wreck this card will stamp from that slip. There is no doubt the name sat on paper.
The project was written and then cut as too loud.
Competing explanations
A rehearsal for 1954. This is the backward reading. It has lists. It has a cut.
A paper shop that never meant to run. Weak against the later Success that did.
Fruit as the only motor. Fruit is weather. The caption is still CIA.
Hybrid caution. A list was written. A cut was ordered. Two years later another caption finished a fall.
Later life of the case
Success volumes that footnote Fortune. I keep those on the later-life shelf. The 1952 cut stays first.
Finding
CIA paper used PBFORTUNE as a 1952 Guatemala project that wrote lists and was then cut as too loud, before PBSUCCESS ran in 1954. Believe the cut. A declass dump does not invent a cancelled caption for a later film.
What still will not resolve: the lists in full, or a page that shows Fortune never meant jobs. Either one would finish the rehearsal. The proving object is still those lists, held as written, not as a preface sentence.
