What this site keeps
Short version: no cookies, no ads, no trackers. Nothing here knows who you are.
Cookies
bot313 sets no cookies. None on the homepage, none in the reports, none in the games. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising network and no tracking pixel.
What your browser remembers
A few features remember things using your browser's own storage. That storage stays on your device. It is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data wipes it.
- Which files you have opened, and your clearance level
- Your File of the day streak
- When you last visited, so new files can be marked NEW
- Your place and stats in the games
- Small display choices, like where you were in a list
How visits are counted
The server counts page views so we can see which files people read. It sorts visits into people and automated bots, and notes where a visit came from in broad terms, like Google, X or a direct link.
To count unique visitors, your connection details are turned into a one-way code that changes every day and cannot be turned back. Your IP address is never saved by the counter, and the codes are deleted after 30 days.
The Stack on the homepage shows recent activity by browser or bot name only. It never shows who anyone is.
Server logs
Like almost every website, the web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses. They are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are cleared automatically after a few weeks.
Other services
Two features load something from outside this site:
- The case map fetches coastline outlines from jsDelivr, a public file host.
- Videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and only once you press play.
Those services see a normal web request from your browser, as any site you visit would.
